San Diego Browlift
A browlift is a popular procedure in San Diego for correcting heavy or low eyebrows that can create excess eyelid skin and pressure and, in many cases, affect vision.
The classic browlift is done through an incision in the top of the scalp that goes from ear to ear. This allows access to the forehead and frown muscles, which are reduced to help with wrinkles. In addition it allows the brow to be pulled up and excess skin to be removed. At Del Mar Plastic Surgery, this procedure is reserved for patients with very heavy brows and thick skin.
Most patients benefit from the newer ENDOSCOPIC BROWLIFT, which uses only a few small incisions in the scalp. An endoscope attached to a camera allows the surgeon to see the small muscles and treat them in a similar way to help reduce forehead lines and frown lines. The brows are then elevated, and instead of removing the skin, it is suspended using small hooks under the skin, which hold the skin in place until it heals into the new position.
The browlift procedure results can create much younger looking eyes, making you look more awake and refreshed.
The healing time for the endoscopic browlift is much quicker, usually 5 to 7 days, and exercise can be resumed in 2 to 3 weeks. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, usually under general anesthesia.
