San Diego Liposuction
One of the most common cosmetic procedures in San Diego is liposuction. Liposuction sculpts the body by removing fat from areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, face, and neck. It is not meant to be a weight loss substitute, but is ideal for removing fat that does not respond to diet and exercise.
Dr. Pollack performs TUMESCENT liposuction with small, thin cannulas. Sterile IV fluid containing small amounts of adrenaline and local anesthetic is first injected into the areas with excess fat. Then, through small 2 to 3 millimeter incisions, tiny suction cannulas are used to sculpt the area and remove the unwanted fat. Small areas can be done under local anesthesia, but larger areas are best done under sedation or general anesthesia to reduce risk.
The liposuction procedure is done on an outpatient basis, and will last between 1 and 3 hours depending on the amount of fat being removed. Patients wear a support garment for 3 weeks after surgery to help reduce swelling. There is usually little or no bruising. Recovery is about 5 to 7 days, and light exercise can resume in 1 week. Normal exercise is possible within 2 to 3 weeks.
Dr. Pollack and his staff at Del Mar Plastic Surgery will listen carefully to your concerns and answer any questions you have about liposuction. Click here for the LIPOSUCTION PHOTO GALLERY.
