San Diego Tummy Tuck (aka abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, has become a very popular procedure in San Diego after weight loss and pregnancy. It is often combined with breast augmentation or breast lift. The best candidates are in good physical condition and have loose abdominal skin, stretch marks, and bulging due to stretched muscles.

A tummy tuck helps to flatten the tummy by removing the excess skin and fat, including most stretch marks, and tightening the abdominal muscles. The skin from the belly button down to the pubic area is usually removed, and the abdominal muscles are tightened above and below the belly button. The resulting scar is very low on the abdomen, and is easily hidden even in a bikini. A mini-abdominoplasty procedure is also available for patients who have loose skin and muscle below the belly button only.

Most abdominoplasty procedures are performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, and last about 2 hours. Recovery is 10 to 14 days, and full exercise can be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks.
