Holidays and Cosmetic Surgery: Do They Go Together?
When you think of the holiday season, chances are you are thinking of cold weather, warm fire, family time, and good food. The thought of having surgery during this time is probably not the first thing you think of. Surprisingly, however, many patients find the holiday season the best time to consider the procedure they have always wanted. Historically, our practice is always booked for the holidays through the end of the year well in advance.
Most people will assume our business is slow this time of year, but its quite the opposite. Here are a few reasons why having surgery over the holidays is a good idea for many:
*Cooler weather makes for a more comfortable recovery for many procedures such as liposuction (since you are required to wear compression garments)
*Vacation time from work is used instead of sick time and/or personal time (especially if your company closes)
*Schools are typically closed if you are a student
*Extra family and friends are usually around to help with recovery
These are just a few, but its something to contemplate if you are looking for time in your schedule to have the tummy tuck or the breast augmentation you have been thinking about for years. My best advice is to consult with your plastic surgeon early and reserve your date well in advance.
